We’ve all been there when it comes to needing a wardrobe change. You wake up, walk over to your wardrobe and rest one hand on your hip whilst you look disapprovingly at all your closet has to offer. That old jumper you love is starting to look worn out and it’s too cold to wear those pretty spring dresses yet. I’ll put my hand up too because I can strongly relate. Hence why I’ve put together some of the best tips to get out of that same old fashion funk. I can promise you now that you’ll either find something new to buy that you’re yet to fall in love with or you’ll find a use for something you didn’t even know looked good anymore.
First up is colour. What would you say is your favourite hue to wear, no matter the season, no matter the weather? Coats are where it’s at. What makes them so great is that you can turn outerwear into a fashion statement and well it does kind of make sense doesn’t it? Why splash out on a super cool top when it’s going to get covered up? Choosing to rock one plain colour will also allow you to style your outfit in so many different ways. Whether you’re going for a chilled informal look or you want to look well put-together, here is a good place to start.
Rose looks amazing here as she has chosen to embrace that ‘pretty in pink’ vibe. Her pearl hair slides looks uber trendy too. The handbag is also further evidence that just goes to show that you can pair a statement jacket with all kinds of accessories.
Now this girl is like no other. She is without a doubt one of the most creative influencers I’ve ever seen. Who would have though that so many crazy and bright colours could look so good together? The key here is to simply be experimental. It may not be an ideal approach for the light-hearted when it comes to those who like more casual looks. However, you can break this down. Try a quirky hat or a new shade of lipstick.
Leading on from that note of being experimental, have a re-think about the footwear department. It’s likely that there will be a pair of shoes you’re neglecting and keeping somewhere hidden in your wardrobe. We’re all guilty of wearing the absolute life out of something and then disregarding it when the next new shiny thing comes along. However, just like Kayla above, a cool pair of shoes can really transform an outfit.
Balance that colour palette. Mono everything ladies. Nude on nude fashion never fails to look stunning. Even if you have pieces that are an exact match, there is just something so high-fashion about piecing together a collection of items of a similar hue. The all you need to do is pick a secondary colour like black for accessories such as a bag and a snazzy pair of shoes. And, BOOM. A whole new outfit. You’re welcome.
Finally, we have the gorgeous Lilia Weddell for our ultimate piece of inspo. Texture, texture, texture. There are so many items of clothing available in different materials. Scuba, pleather, silk, satin, velvet… the list goes on. An all-black outfit with different textures would be one of the best places to start if you’re worried about too many things contrasting. And the reason I suggest black is because when the light hits you, you’ll be glistening or glowing in a much more subtle way.
What fashion tips will you be taking on board moving forwards?
