You’ve just sat down at your desk (or on your bed, or on the floor) and gathered your best makeup bits and bobs. You’ve got somewhere to go and you’re sick of doing that same old half-attempted brown smoky eye. “I want to do something different, something colourful or glittery”, you tell yourself. But the truth is, you just don’t know where to start. Well, I, my friend, am here to ensure that you’re never stuck again. Because our newest #PowerCrush, Oh My Geeee, is providing exactly what you’re looking for.
Who is this mystery girl?
This is no other than Gina Box aka Oh My Geeee on Instagram and YouTube. She’s got those creative skills on lock when it comes to all things makeup and beauty. Just you wait and see. Gina has been on the scene for a few years now but we thought it was time to give her the recognition she deserves. And that is because she is majorly, majorly, majorly, talented.
Despite the neutral glam makeup looks above that you’ve seen so far, well, I’m just getting started. Today we’re going to be taking a look at some of the most creative looks Oh My Geeee has blessed the gram with so far. And I’ll be giving you some in-depth tips and tricks on how you can achieve the exact same look. But, before we get started, I’ll bring you up-to-date.
Gina is a 23-year-old influencer who creates super cool makeup tutorials, DIY type projects and haul videos online. We’ve spotted her hanging out with Suzie (Hello October), Liza Koshy and Nikki Tutorials. Now that is one talented pool of influencers. Thanks to her makeup talents that went viral, as well as getting to meet others in the industry, brands are also keen to get in touch.
Oh My Geeee’s hard work enables her to go on amazing brand trips with companies such as It Cosmetics, Urban Decay and Benefit. In addition to that, she receives plenty of fabulous PR packages too. Those brands have included Mac, Colour Pop, Ofra, Nars, Huda Beauty and many, many more. Now, doesn’t that sound dreamy?
3 Iconic Looks To Experiment With This Autumn/Winter
So, as I mentioned earlier, now is the time to reveal some of her best art yet. And to do that we’re debuting this iconic look segment to get you inspired for the new season ahead. I mean, it is October now after all!
Light and vampy. This look, despite it’s attention-grabbing qualities, is actually surprisingly easy to replicate. All you need is a pale silver or white shadow with a good level of pigmentation and a dark lip. It’s as simple as that. You can go as extreme or minimal as you like with it and it’s definitely a great go-to look for AW18.
The vibrant and sparkly one. This is called a half cut-crease if you didn’t know already and it’s a great eyeshadow technique to really open up your eye. Now, don’t worry, I know it looks kind of complex but you can achieve it in three easy steps. 1) Build up the layers of crease colour gradually. 2) Add a deeper shade on the outer corner and blend inwards. 3) Add a highlight to the inner half on the eye creating a sharp curved line by gently sweeping your shadow brush from the inner corner outwards.
This one, I like to call the galactic halo look. The halo label references the lightness in the centre of the lid. And this can easily be achieved by spreading a liberal amount of crease colour all over the eye. Then add a deeper colour to the inner and outer corner. Finally, just add a light shimmery shade to the middle of the lid and you’re sorted. If you fancy going all out, a white liquid liner is all you need to polish off the look.
And there you go. Three looks to get your brains pumping with ideas for new styles you can try out. Remember, you don’t have to use the exact same colours as you see in the pictures and videos. It’s all about adapting the technique and making it your own by using what you like and what suits you. Happy makeup-ing!
