Although she has only recently starred in Netflix’s Girlboss, Britt Robertson has always been a female boss. The 27-year-old actor has always gone for roles that have developed her acting ability. Her first professional credited feature was a small part in ‘Sheena’ (2000), where she played the role of ‘young Sheena’. She continued to broaden her horizons at an early age by starring in Law and Order: SVU, CSI and you might even recognize her as Mandy from ‘Freddie’ (yes, Freddie Prinze Jr’s show!).
But Britt didn’t stop there. She has worked with many people on numerous projects; some have even become close friends and mentors to her. In 2011, filming for ‘The First Time’ began. Britt plays the female lead, Aubrey, who is Dave’s love interest. Her current boyfriend, Dylan O’Brien, plays Dave. This is how the two first met; they have been dating ever since. There is no denying the chemistry portrayed in this movie; as the characters fall in love, so do their real life counterparts.
Quite an interesting turn of events occurred in 2013, for their relationship. Shelley Hennig, best friend and roommate of Britt, was cast in Season 3b of Teen Wolf. She plays Malia Tate, who is the love interest of Stiles (Dylan’s character). Britt has stated in interviews that she and Dylan have watched the episodes together. All support and laughs from Britt as she jokes; “So that’s what it would be like if you cheated on me with my best friend”. Now that’s what you call a down to earth chick!
A continuous film reel since age 10, Britt has always managed to find a project to indulge in. From Triple Dog, to Life Unexpected, then onto Scream 4 all one after the other. These are just the minor projects that have got her to where she is now; so many doors have been opened to her. Showing that you can start out small and works your way towards the bigger goal. Just recently she worked alongside the great RuPaul in Girlboss and prior to this, she worked with Dennis Quaid in A Dog’s Purpose.
Her appetite to push the boundaries with her career has ensured that she has made a name for herself very quickly. It is hard to imagine that she has already worked with some Hollywood greats like George Clooney, Scott Eastwood, Johnny Simmons, Asa Butterfield, Chris Zylka to name a few. She has even worked with some of Hollywood’s sweethearts like Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Neve Campbell, Melissa Benoist, and much more.
It goes without saying that friendships are important to Britt. She realises that your professional life can grow substantially if you value the people around you. Since working with Ellie Reed and learning about Sophia Amaruso, Britt has become close with the two and they support each other’s personal lives and careers. The Girlboss crew look as if they’ve known each other forever; so comfortable and free when in the company of another. A bond one can only dream of. It truly is amazing the relationship that is built when working on the same project over the course of a few months/year.
It is very inspirational that Britt has come so far already even though her journey has only just begun. And it’s not just people who she values in life. Just look at her two damper pups, Buddy and Clyde. Living the pampered lifestyle that comes with being owned by such a caring, compassionate person. Definitely feeling some envy over these precious pups as they get fussed over by their queen B.
She is also passionate about those less fortunate than her. Camp Ānuenue is a Hawaiian camp for people who have been diagnosed with cancer. Britt is one of the (many) celebrity ambassadors helping to raise awareness and donations. This camp survives off of contributions, so, these celeb ambassadors would encourage donations by live broadcasting at the camps HQ and hosting auctions. They would typically auction off their belongings or merch from their current projects.
This is such a productive and innovating way of getting people to contribute even the slightest bit. If young people see their favourite stars promoting things, they are bound to get on board. So good on every celebrity involved in helping charities, for not taking their platform for granted and help inspire young minds to do good.
But, reaching the ranks of a Hollywood star like Britt is not out of your reach. Just like you, she also loves to let her hair down which shows that she is human, once in a while. It OK to be a little crazy every now and then. If celebrities like Britt in the spotlight can live a wild life without having to worry, why should you live in fear of judgment? Be free. Have fun.
Britt is also very fashionable and can sport the ideal look for any occasion. Can this girl do anything wrong? Portraying the NastyGal creator, Sophia in Girlboss has allowed Britt to gain some exclusive clothing content. Just look at how well the jumpsuit compliments her. Vintage is definitely a good look for her.
She also looked stunning as she walked the carpet in Los Angeles to promote film ‘The Space Between Us‘. With her brown hair making her blue eyes ‘pop’, the bead embellished dress complimented her complexion and the flowing fringe of beads helped add some of the vintage glamour that really suits Britt.
Next up is the Girlboss LA premiere. As she rocked a sleek up-do with captivating eyes and a natural face of make-up, Britt showed off a simple, contemporary dress. This look was completed with striking silver stilettos.
And let’s not forget the 2015 premiere of Tomorrowland, where Britt strutted her stuff in vibrant colours. Dashingly bold lips that pumped up the contrast while adding just the right amount of brightness to energize everyone’s day.
With these looks being so captivating and timeless, Britt may just be my new style icon. How about you? What are your views on these looks?
